The course present the principles of economic sociology and its current debates.

Description du contenu de l'enseignement

For the 2018-19 academic year, the main theme of the course will the "economic power". First, economic power refers to the dominance of large corporations over other companies and over their workforce. The influence of economically-dominant actors - firms and high-net-worth individuals - upon other domains of human activities that have their own logics constitutes the second dimension of economic power. More specifically, The often asymmetrical interdependencies between big business and government are critical. The course present key texts and methods of investigation. It requires reading one or two articles / book chapters per week and active participation in class.

Mode de contrôle des connaissances

The grading will combine reading notes and a personal essay (in English).
