  • Investigate and collect information about referentials and norms that are specific to some core business process

Description du contenu de l'enseignement

Nowadays economic life is characterized by an ever-increasing pressure on quality, costs and delays. For this reason, organizational performance more than ever depends on the functioning, quality and management of its processes (As illustrated by just-in-time, lean management, TQM, digitization, etc.). To deal with transformation and adaptation to environmental and strategic needs, organizations ought to not only analyze, but also model, optimize and reengineer their processes. The course is a fundamental step towards the understanding and mastering of business processes that can be modified, revised or reengineered. The course trains the students to i) model processes by relying on widely-used methodologies (UML, BPMN) and ii) revise and optimize these processes by taking into account strategic requirements, economical and legal requirements, organizational constraints, etc.

After their attendance to the course, the students should be able to :
  • Detect, analyze and model processes
  • Optimize processes and argue their rationale for the adopted solution

  • Techniques d’identification, de modélisation et d’optimisation de processus : BPMN, UML
  • Présentation de l’importance des processus et leur rôle dans la performance d’une organisation
  • Attentes stratégiques, référentiels, normes concernant les processus
  • Les enjeux économiques et de gestion liés aux processus : coûts, délais, qualité, conformité, innovation
  • Modes de management des processus : TQM, Lean Management, Cercles de qualité, etc.
  • Comment gérer des processus en évolution et en transformation : diagnostic
  • Dimension organisationnelle de la gestion d’un processus

Mode de contrôle des connaissances

  • Final exam : 40%
The final exam will append during the exams week. It will length 1h30 and will be part exercises and part case study.
  • Modeling and BMP lab exercises : 20%
Students will learn how to integrate modeling constructs using small application example. BPM software will be used to support these modeling tasks.
  • Case study : 20%
Students will work in group. Each group will study a different case inspired by a real process to describe, model and analyze part of the overall process, and then propose some argued optimizations. Each group will present its work and conclusions during the last session of the course in front of the class. This oral presentation will be supported with a written paper which will help the whole class.
  • Participation : 20%
Participation is evaluated on the basis of pertinence of the student contribution to the sessions.
